Beef and Gravy

Beef and Gravy Served on Creamy Mashed Potatoes

Ingredients for the Mashed Potatoes:
– 4-5 russet potatoes, peeled and diced
– 2 tablespoons of butter
– 1/2 cup of milk (adjust as necessary)
– Salt and black pepper to taste

Ingredients for the Ground Beef and Gravy:
– 1 pound of lean ground beef
– 1 onion, finely chopped
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
– 2 cups of beef broth
– 1 tablespoon of Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon of onion powder
– 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
– Salt and black pepper to taste

Instructions for Mashed Potatoes:
Begin by placing the diced potatoes in a large pot and covering them with water. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Cook until the potatoes are tender enough to be pierced with a fork, approximately 15-20 minutes. Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Incorporate the butter, milk, salt, and black pepper, mashing until smooth. Add more milk if a creamier texture is desired. Keep warm.

Instructions for Ground Beef and Gravy:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef along with the chopped onion until the beef is fully cooked and the onion is translucent. If necessary, drain any excess fat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for an additional minute. Sprinkle the flour over the mixture and stir well, cooking for about a minute to eliminate the raw flour flavor. Gradually pour in the beef broth while stirring to avoid lumps. Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Allow the mixture to simmer for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the gravy reaches the desired thickness.

To Serve:
Pour the beef and gravy over the creamy mashed potatoes and savor the dish!
