Chicken Fried Steak Bites 🥩
Ingredients:
1½ pounds cube steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
1 cup buttermilk
2 large eggs
1 tablespoon hot sauce (optional)
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon salt
½ teaspoon black pepper
Vegetable oil, for frying
Instructions:
1. Create the Wet Mixture:
In a bowl, combine buttermilk, eggs, and hot sauce, whisking until thoroughly blended.
2. Prepare the Dry Mixture:
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
3. Dredge the Steak Bites:
Coat each piece of steak in the dry mixture, ensuring an even layer. Next, dip it into the wet mixture, letting any excess drip off. Finally, return it to the dry mixture, pressing gently to ensure it sticks.
4. Heat the Oil:
In a deep skillet or frying pan, pour in about 1 inch of vegetable oil and heat it over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
5. Fry the Steak Bites:
Carefully add a few coated steak bites to the hot oil, taking care not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until they are golden brown and fully cooked. Use a slotted spoon to remove them and drain on paper towels. Repeat with the remaining pieces.
6. Serve:
Enjoy the steak bites hot, accompanied by your preferred dipping sauce, such as country gravy or ranch dressing.
Notes:
For enhanced flavor, consider marinating the steak bites in the buttermilk mixture for 1 hour prior to dredging. To maintain warmth and crispiness, place the fried steak bites on a wire rack in a low oven (200°F or 95°C) until ready to serve.
