Ham and Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels:
Ingredients
– Puff Pastry: 1 sheet (approximately 250 g), thawed
– Ham: 150 g (6 slices), thinly sliced

– Dijon Mustard (optional): 2 tablespoons
– Egg: 1, lightly beaten (for egg wash)
—
Instructions
1. Preheat Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C) and prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
2. Prepare Puff Pastry: On a lightly floured surface, roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet into a rectangle, if necessary.
3. Add Dijon Mustard (Optional): If desired, spread the Dijon mustard evenly over the surface of the pastry.
4. Layer the Ham and Cheese: Evenly distribute the ham slices over the pastry, followed by a layer of shredded cheese.
5. Roll and Slice:
– Tightly roll the pastry into a log, starting from one of the longer edges.
– Once rolled, use a sharp knife to cut the log into pinwheels approximately 1/2 inch (1.25 cm) thick.
6. Arrange on Baking Sheet: Position the pinwheels on the prepared baking sheet, ensuring there is space between each to allow for puffing.
7. Brush with Egg Wash: Gently brush the tops and sides of each pinwheel with the beaten egg to achieve a golden finish.
8. Bake: Place in the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the pinwheels are puffed and golden brown.
9. Serve: Allow the pinwheels to cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature!
