Milk Pudding Flan
Ingredients:
– 4 cups (1 liter) of milk
– 1 can (14 oz) of sweetened condensed milk
– 1 cup (200g) of sugar
– 4 eggs
– 2 tablespoons of cornstarch (optional, for additional thickness)
– 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Mixture:
In a blender, combine the milk, sweetened condensed milk, eggs, sugar, cornstarch, and vanilla extract. Blend until the mixture is smooth and thoroughly combined.
2. Cook the Mixture (optional, if using cornstarch):
Transfer the blended mixture to a saucepan. Heat over medium-low heat, stirring continuously, until the mixture thickens slightly, approximately 5 to 7 minutes. Remove from heat.
3. Prepare the Baking Dish:
Lightly grease a rectangular or square baking dish.
4. Steam or Bake:
For the Steam Method: Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Cover it securely with aluminum foil. Place the dish in a large pot filled with boiling water, ensuring the water reaches halfway up the sides of the dish, and steam for about 40 to 50 minutes.
For the Bake Method: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Place the baking dish in a larger tray filled with hot water (water bath) and bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until the dessert is set.
5. Cool:
Allow the dessert to cool to room temperature. For optimal results, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
6. Serve:
Slice and serve chilled. Optionally, garnish with caramel sauce or a dusting of cinnamon.
