Instructions
1. Prepare the Onion Rings
Begin by separating the onion slices into pairs, ensuring a smaller ring fits within a larger one. Insert mozzarella strips between the two rings to form a “cheese-filled” structure. Continue this process for all onion pairs.
2. Set Up the Coating Station
Arrange three bowls: one containing flour, another with whisked eggs, and the third with a mixture of bread crumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
3. Coat the Onion Rings
Take each cheese-stuffed onion ring and dredge it in flour, ensuring complete coverage. Next, dip it into the beaten eggs, followed by coating it with the seasoned bread crumbs, pressing gently to ensure adherence. Repeat this for all rings.
4. Preheat the Air Fryer
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for approximately 3-5 minutes.
5. Cook the Onion Rings
Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking. Arrange the onion rings in a single layer within the basket, making sure they do not overlap. Lightly spray the tops of the rings with cooking spray to enhance crispiness.
6. Air Fry
Cook the onion rings at 375°F (190°C) for 8-10 minutes, flipping them halfway through the cooking time, until they achieve a golden brown and crispy texture.
7. Serve
Serve the onion rings hot alongside your preferred dipping sauces, such as marinara or ranch.
Enjoy your deliciously crispy and gooey air-fried cheese-stuffed onion rings!
