—
Instructions:
For the Hamburger Steaks:
1. In a large bowl, combine the egg, breadcrumbs, black pepper, salt, onion powder, garlic, and Worcestershire sauce.
2. Add the ground beef and mix until well combined. Shape the mixture into 4-5 equal-sized patties.
3. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until fully cooked. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
For the Onion Gravy:
1. In the same skillet, melt 2 tbsp butter. Add the sliced onions and cook over medium heat until softened and golden brown (about 8-10 minutes).
2. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce and beef broth, scraping up any browned bits from the skillet.
3. If you prefer a thicker gravy, dissolve 1 tbsp cornstarch in 2 tbsp of water, then stir it into the gravy. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.
4. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
To Serve:
Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet with the onion gravy. Simmer for a few minutes until warmed through.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice, and pour the gravy generously over the top.
Enjoy your husband-approved comfort meal!
