Potato chips
Air Fryer Potato Chips
Ingredients:
– 2 medium potatoes (Yukon Gold or Russet are ideal)
– 1-2 tablespoons of olive oil
– Salt, to taste
– Optional seasonings: garlic powder, paprika, or black pepper
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Potatoes:
Begin by washing and peeling the potatoes, if desired. Slice the potatoes very thinly, approximately 1/16-inch thick, using a mandoline slicer or a sharp knife.
2. Soak the Potatoes:
Submerge the potato slices in a bowl of cold water and allow them to soak for a minimum of 30 minutes. This process helps eliminate excess starch, resulting in crispier chips. After soaking, drain and rinse the slices, then dry them thoroughly with paper towels.
3. Season the Chips:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the potato slices with olive oil and a pinch of salt. Feel free to incorporate any additional seasonings to your preference.
4. Air Fry:
Preheat the air fryer to 360°F (180°C). Arrange the potato slices in a single layer within the air fryer basket, ensuring not to overcrowd. You may need to cook them in batches. Cook for 10-15 minutes, shaking the basket every 5 minutes to promote even cooking. Monitor the chips closely to avoid burning, as cooking times may vary depending on thickness and the specific air fryer model.
5. Cool and Serve:
Once the chips are golden and crispy, remove them from the air fryer and allow them to cool slightly. They will continue to crisp as they cool. Adjust the seasoning with additional salt or spices to taste, and enjoy!
These homemade air fryer potato chips provide a delightful snack option without the excess oil associated with traditional frying. Please let me know if you decide to try this recipe!
