Cheeseburger casserole
Cheeseburger Casserole
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
1/2 onion, finely diced
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 can (15 ounces) diced tomatoes, drained
1/4 cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
Salt and pepper, to taste
3 cups cooked pasta (elbow macaroni or penne are suitable)
1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
1/4 cup pickles, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
Prepare the Beef Mixture:
In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef for approximately 5-7 minutes, draining any excess fat.
Incorporate the chopped onion and garlic, cooking until softened, about 2-3 minutes.
Add Seasonings:
Mix in the diced tomatoes, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Allow to simmer for 5 minutes to blend the flavors.
Combine with Pasta:
Stir the cooked pasta into the beef mixture, ensuring thorough incorporation. Add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese and mix well.
Bake the Casserole:
Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
Transfer the beef and pasta mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish. Evenly sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup of cheddar cheese on top.
Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
Serve:
Allow the casserole to cool for a few minutes before garnishing with chopped pickles and parsley, if desired.
Tips
For a spicy variation, consider adding a dash of hot sauce or diced jalapeños.
To enhance the cheesiness, combine cheddar and mozzarella cheese for the topping.
