Goulash
Old-Fashioned Goulash Recipe
Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef (or ground turkey)
1 large onion, diced
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 bell pepper, diced (optional)
1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
1 can (15 oz) diced tomatoes
1 can (15 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 cup beef broth or water
2 cups elbow macaroni, uncooked
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1 tsp paprika (optional)
1 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for topping)
Instructions:
1. In a large pot or Dutch oven, brown the ground beef over medium heat. Drain any excess fat.
2. Add the onion, garlic, and bell pepper, cooking until softened, about 3–5 minutes.
3. Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, and beef broth. Add the Italian seasoning, paprika, salt, and pepper.
4. Bring the mixture to a boil, then add the uncooked macaroni. Stir well.
5. Lower the heat to a simmer and cover the pot. Let it cook for about 15–20 minutes, or until the macaroni is tender, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
6. Once done, top with shredded cheddar cheese if desired, allowing it to melt before serving.
