Ingredients:
For the Filling:
1 sheet of puff pastry (thawed if frozen) Butter (for greasing) 1 onion, finely diced 1 tsp dried basil 300g ground meat (beef, chicken, or pork) Salt and black pepper (to taste) 100g cheese (grated, such as mozzarella or cheddar) 1 bunch of parsley, chopped 2 boiled eggs, chopped
For Assembly:
1 egg yolk (for egg wash) 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash) Sesame or nigella seeds (optional, for topping) Instructions:
Preheat the Oven:
Begin by preheating your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a baking sheet or line it with parchment paper.
Prepare the Filling:
In a skillet, melt a small amount of butter and sauté the diced onion until it becomes soft and translucent. Add the ground meat, dried basil, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the meat is browned and thoroughly cooked. Remove from heat and allow it to cool slightly. Incorporate the grated cheese, chopped parsley, and chopped boiled eggs, mixing well.
Prepare the Puff Pastry:
If necessary, roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into squares or rectangles based on your preferred size.
Assemble the Pastries:
Spoon a portion of the filling into the center of each pastry piece. Fold the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges by pressing with a fork or pinching them together. Place them on the prepared baking sheet.
Egg Wash & Baking:
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg yolk and milk, then brush the mixture over the pastries. If desired, sprinkle sesame or nigella seeds on top. Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastry is golden brown and crispy.
Serve & Enjoy:
Allow the pastries to cool slightly before serving. They are delightful when warm or at room temperature!
