Sausage Rolls Made in an Air Fryer
Ingredients:
– 1 pound (450g) sausage meat (either pork or beef)
– 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
– 1/4 cup finely diced onion
– 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme or parsley
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 sheet of thawed puff pastry
– 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
—
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Filling:
In a mixing bowl, combine the sausage meat, breadcrumbs, onion, garlic powder, thyme, salt, and pepper until well blended.
2. Assemble the Rolls:
On a lightly floured surface, roll out the puff pastry. Cut it into two equal rectangular pieces. Divide the sausage mixture into two equal portions and shape each into a long log. Position each log along the center of a pastry strip. Brush one edge of the pastry with the beaten egg and tightly roll it around the sausage filling, sealing the edge.
3. Cut the Rolls:
Slice the rolled pastry into bite-sized pieces, approximately 1.5 to 2 inches in length.
4. Prepare for Air Frying:
Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for 3-5 minutes. Lightly brush the tops of the sausage rolls with the beaten egg to achieve a golden finish.
5. Cook in the Air Fryer:
Arrange the sausage rolls in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring there is space between them. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 12-15 minutes, or until the pastry turns golden brown and the sausage filling is thoroughly cooked. Flip them halfway through the cooking time for even browning if necessary.
6. Serve:
Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving warm with your preferred dipping sauce.
Enjoy your deliciously crispy and flaky air fryer sausage rolls!
