Sausage balls
Cream Cheese Sausage Balls:
Ingredients:
– 1 lb (16 oz) ground sausage (either pork or turkey)
– 8 oz cream cheese, softened
– 1 1/4 cups all-purpose baking mix (such as Bisquick)
– 1 1/2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
– 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
– 1/2 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it.
2. Combine Ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the softened cream cheese and ground sausage until well combined. Then, add the baking mix, shredded cheddar cheese, and optional garlic and onion powders. Stir until the mixture is uniform. Using your hands can help achieve a thorough mix.
3. Shape the Balls: Form the mixture into 1-inch balls and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 1-2 inches apart.
4. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the sausage balls are golden brown and fully cooked.
5. Serve: Let the sausage balls cool for a few minutes before serving. They are best enjoyed warm, accompanied by dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or spicy mayo.
Storage:
Refrigerator: Keep any leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for optimal results.
Freezer: For uncooked sausage balls, freeze them on a baking sheet before transferring to a freezer-safe bag. When ready to bake, cook from frozen, adding an additional 5-7 minutes to the baking time.
