Cheesy Beef Pizza Casserole:
Ingredients:
– 1 lb ground beef
– 1 medium onion, chopped
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 2 cups marinara or pizza sauce
– 1 tsp dried oregano
– 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
– 2 cups uncooked pasta (penne or rotini recommended)
– 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
– 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
– 1/2 cup pepperoni slices (optional, for added flavor)
– Salt and pepper to taste
– 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions:
1. Prepare the Pasta:
Cook the pasta in salted water according to the package directions until it reaches al dente. Drain and set aside.
2. Brown the Ground Beef:
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until it is browned, breaking it into small pieces. Drain any excess fat.
3. Sauté Onion and Garlic:
Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook until the onion becomes translucent.
4. Incorporate the Sauce:
Mix in the marinara or pizza sauce, oregano, and red pepper flakes (if using). Allow it to simmer for 5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to your liking.
5. Combine Pasta and Sauce:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta with the beef and sauce mixture until everything is evenly mixed.
6. Layer the Casserole:
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish. Spread half of the pasta mixture in the dish, then sprinkle with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Layer the remaining pasta and top with the remaining cheeses. Add pepperoni slices if desired.
7. Bake:
Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 20 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and golden.
8. Serve:
Allow the casserole to rest for 5 minutes before serving. Optionally, garnish with fresh basil or parsley.
