White chocolate
White Chocolate Peppermint Cherries:
Ingredients:
– 1 jar (approximately 6 maraschino cherries) with stems intact
– 1 cup of white candy melts or white chocolate chips
– 1/3 cup of crushed peppermint candy
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Cherries:
Begin by draining the cherries and thoroughly drying them with paper towels. It is essential to eliminate any moisture to ensure proper adherence of the chocolate.
2. Melt the Chocolate:
In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the white candy melts or white chocolate chips in intervals of 15-20 seconds, stirring in between each interval until the mixture is smooth and creamy. Take care not to overheat.
3. Crush the Peppermint Candy:
Place the peppermint candies into a resealable plastic bag and crush them using a rolling pin or mallet until they achieve a fine, sprinkle-like texture.
4. Dip the Cherries:
Grasp each cherry by the stem and dip it into the melted white chocolate, covering approximately three-quarters of the cherry. Allow any excess chocolate to drip off.
5. Coat with Peppermint Candy:
While the chocolate remains wet, sprinkle the crushed peppermint candy over the dipped cherries, ensuring they are lightly coated.
6. Set the Cherries:
Arrange the cherries on a baking sheet or plate lined with parchment paper. Allow the chocolate to set completely at room temperature or place them in the refrigerator for a quicker setting time.
Serving:
These delightful cherries are ideal for holiday platters or as a sophisticated garnish for desserts. Store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days.
