Custard pie
Custard Pie:
Ingredients:
1 unbaked pie crust (either store-bought or homemade)
3 large eggs
¾ cup granulated sugar
½ teaspoon salt
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 ½ cups whole milk
½ teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for garnish)
—
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Begin by preheating your oven to 400°F (200°C).
2. Prepare the Pie Crust: Roll out the pie crust and place it into a 9-inch pie pan. Crimp the edges as desired and set it aside.
3. Prepare the Custard: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sugar, salt, and vanilla extract until the mixture is smooth. Gradually incorporate the milk, stirring until fully combined.
4. Fill the Pie Crust: Position the pie pan on a baking sheet for easier handling. Carefully pour the custard mixture into the prepared pie crust.
5. Add Nutmeg (optional): If desired, lightly sprinkle ground nutmeg on top for added flavor and decoration.
6. Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake at 400°F for 15 minutes. Then, lower the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 25–30 minutes, or until the center is just set and a knife inserted near the center comes out clean.
7. Cool and Serve: Allow the pie to cool completely at room temperature before slicing. Any leftovers should be refrigerated.
