Cheese sandwich

Grilled Cheese Sandwich—delightfully simple, perfectly crispy, and wonderfully gooey with each bite!

Ingredients

4 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or your preferred type)

4 tablespoons of softened butter

1 cup of shredded cheese (a combination of cheddar, mozzarella, and gouda is highly recommended)

Optional: 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise (for added crispiness)

Optional additions: crispy bacon, slices of tomato, or caramelized onions

Instructions

1. Prepare the bread

Spread softened butter on one side of each slice of bread. If desired, apply a thin layer of mayonnaise on the same side as the butter to enhance crispiness.

2. Assemble the sandwich

In a nonstick skillet set over medium-low heat, place a slice of bread with the buttered side facing down. Evenly distribute the shredded cheese on top, adding any optional ingredients at this stage. Cover with a second slice of bread, ensuring the buttered side is facing up.

3. Cook to perfection

Allow the sandwich to cook on one side for 3 to 4 minutes, gently pressing down with a spatula. Carefully flip the sandwich and continue cooking the other side until it is golden brown and the cheese has completely melted, which should take another 3 to 4 minutes.

4. Serve hot

Cut the sandwich diagonally, serve it immediately, and savor it alongside a bowl of tomato soup or your favorite dipping sauce!
