Ingredients:

– 6 chicken drumsticks
– 2 cups self-rising flour
– 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
– 1 teaspoon black pepper (adjust to taste)
– 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for added heat)
– 1 cup buttermilk
– Olive oil spray

Instructions:

1. Season the Chicken: Begin by lightly seasoning the chicken drumsticks with salt and black pepper.

2. Prepare the Coating: In a resealable bag, combine the self-rising flour, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Shake the bag to ensure an even mixture.

3. Coat the Chicken: Take one chicken drumstick at a time and place it into the bag of seasoned flour. Shake the bag to coat the chicken thoroughly. Afterward, remove the chicken and dip it into the buttermilk. Return the chicken to the bag of flour for a second coating.

4. Allow to Rest: Transfer the coated chicken to a plate and let it rest for 5 minutes. This resting period helps the coating adhere more effectively.

5. Apply Oil: Lightly spray the chicken with olive oil spray to enhance crispiness.

6. Cook in the Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 400°F. Arrange the chicken drumsticks in a single layer within the basket, ensuring there is space between each piece. Cook for 24 minutes, turning them halfway through the cooking time.

7. Verify Doneness: Check that the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F to ensure it is fully cooked.
