Cheesy Baked Pork Chops
Ingredients
– 4 bone-in pork chops (approximately 1 inch thick)
– Salt and pepper, to taste
– 1 tablespoon olive oil or butter
– 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or a combination of cheeses)
– 1/2 cup chicken broth or cream
– 1/4 cup chopped onion
– 1 teaspoon garlic powder
– 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
– Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. Season the Pork Chops: Generously season both sides of the pork chops with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika.
3. Sear the Pork Chops: In an oven-safe skillet, heat the olive oil or butter over medium-high heat. Sear the pork chops for 2-3 minutes on each side until they achieve a golden brown color. Remove from heat.
4. Incorporate Onions and Liquid: Distribute the chopped onions over the pork chops, then pour the chicken broth (or cream) around them in the skillet.
5. Bake: Place the skillet in the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the internal temperature of the pork chops reaches 145°F (63°C).
6. Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the pork chops and broil for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts and becomes golden.
7. Garnish and Serve: Take the skillet out of the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve while hot.
