Tennessee Onion Dish
Ingredients:
2-3 large sweet onions (such as Vidalia), cut into 1/4-inch thick rings
1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
1 cup shredded Gruyère or Swiss cheese
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
1. Preheat the Oven: Set your oven temperature to 350°F (175°C).
2. Prepare the Onions: Place the onion rings in a single layer within a greased 9×13-inch baking dish.
3. Season and Add Butter: Evenly distribute garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper over the onions. Drizzle the melted butter on top.
4. Incorporate Cheese: Evenly sprinkle the mozzarella, Parmesan, and Gruyère (or Swiss) cheeses over the onions.
5. Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Afterward, remove the foil and continue baking for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the onions are tender and the cheese is golden and bubbly.
6. Serve: If desired, garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm.
