Hamburger Steak with Onion Gravy

Ingredients

For the Hamburger Steak:

1 lb ground beef

1/4 cup breadcrumbs

1 egg

1/2 small onion, finely chopped

1/2 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp oil (for frying)

For the Onion Gravy:

1 large onion, thinly sliced

2 tbsp butter

2 cups beef broth

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tsp garlic powder

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 tbsp cornstarch (mixed with 2 tbsp water to make a slurry)

Instructions

1. Make the Hamburger Steaks:

1. In a bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped onion, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.

2. Mix well and form into 4 patties.

3. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for 4-5 minutes per side, until browned. Remove from skillet and set aside.

2. Make the Onion Gravy:

1. In the same skillet, add butter and sliced onions. Cook over medium heat until onions are caramelized, about 10 minutes.

2. Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Stir and bring to a simmer.

3. Stir in the cornstarch slurry to thicken the gravy. Simmer for 2-3 minutes until thickened.

3. Combine and Serve:

1. Return the hamburger steaks to the skillet, spooning some of the gravy and onions over them.

2. Let simmer for an additional 5 minutes to meld flavors.

3. Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice and enjoy!
