Meatball casserole
Dump-and-Bake Meatball Casserole:
Ingredients:
1 bag (24 oz) frozen meatballs (fully cooked)
1 jar (24 oz) marinara or pasta sauce
3 cups water
1 box (16 oz) uncooked pasta (penne or rigatoni work well)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
Optional: grated Parmesan cheese, fresh basil, or parsley for garnish
Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
2. In a large baking dish (9×13 inches), combine the marinara sauce, water, and pasta. Stir to mix well.
3. Add the frozen meatballs to the baking dish, spreading them evenly over the pasta.
4. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
5. Bake for 35 minutes.
6. Remove the foil, stir the casserole, and sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top.
7. Return to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until cheese is melted and bubbly and pasta is tender.
8. Garnish with grated Parmesan and fresh herbs, if desired, before serving.
Tips:
For added flavor, try mixing in some Italian seasoning or garlic powder with the sauce.
Make sure to stir before adding the cheese to ensure the pasta is evenly cooked.
