Caramel cake

Caramel Cake with Caramel Sauce, which looks similar to your photo. It has a soft, buttery cake with rich caramel drizzled on top.

Ingredients

Cake

1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour

1/2 teaspoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon salt

1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened

1 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1/2 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Caramel Sauce

1 cup granulated sugar

6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into pieces

1/2 cup heavy cream

1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cake

1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.

2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3. In another bowl, beat the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.

4. Mix in the sour cream (or yogurt) and vanilla extract.

5. Gradually add the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.

6. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and smooth the top.

7. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

8. Allow the cake to cool slightly in the pan.

Step 2: Make the Caramel Sauce

1. In a saucepan, melt the sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns a deep amber color.

2. Add the butter carefully (it will bubble up), and stir until fully combined.

3. Slowly pour in the heavy cream, stirring until smooth. Add salt to taste.

4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly.

Step 3: Serve

1. Slice the cake into squares and drizzle generously with the caramel sauce.

2. Serve warm or at room temperature. Enjoy!
