Fried
Fried Pickles:
Ingredients:
1 jar of dill pickles (sliced or spears, depending on your preference)
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
½ tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
1 cup buttermilk (or regular milk)
1 large egg
1 ½ cups cornmeal (or breadcrumbs for a crunchier texture)
Vegetable oil for frying
Ranch dressing or your favorite dipping sauce
Instructions:
1. Drain and Dry the Pickles: Take your pickle slices or spears out of the jar, drain them, and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
2. Prepare Breading Station:
In one bowl, mix together flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
In a second bowl, whisk the egg and buttermilk together.
In a third bowl, add cornmeal (or breadcrumbs).
3. Coat the Pickles:
Dip each pickle slice into the seasoned flour mixture, coating evenly.
Then, dip it into the buttermilk and egg mixture.
Finally, coat the pickle in the cornmeal or breadcrumbs. Press gently to ensure the coating sticks well.
4. Heat Oil: In a deep pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat to 350°F (175°C). Make sure there’s enough oil to submerge the pickles.
5. Fry the Pickles: Carefully place the coated pickles into the hot oil. Fry them for 2-3 minutes, or until they are golden and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.
6. Drain and Serve: Remove the pickles with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to absorb any excess oil.
7. Serve: Serve the fried pickles hot with ranch or your favorite dipping sauce.
Enjoy your crispy fried pickles!
