Caramel Walnuts

Ingredients:

1 cup walnuts (or other nuts of your choice)

½ cup granulated sugar

2 tablespoons butter

1 tablespoon water

Pinch of salt

¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prep the walnuts: Toast the walnuts in a dry pan over medium heat for about 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are slightly fragrant. Set them aside.

2. Make the caramel: In the same pan, add the sugar, butter, and water. Stir continuously over medium heat. The sugar will start to melt and turn golden brown, taking about 1-2 minutes.

3. Coat the walnuts: Once the sugar is fully melted and golden, quickly add the toasted walnuts, a pinch of salt, and the vanilla extract if using. Stir well to coat the walnuts evenly with the caramel.

4. Cool the walnuts: Transfer the caramel-coated walnuts to a piece of parchment paper or a silicone mat. Let them cool for 5-10 minutes.

5. Serve or store: Once cooled, break them apart and enjoy! You can store the walnuts in an airtight container for later use in salads, desserts, or snacks.
