delicious Patty Melt with Secret Sauce recipe for you to try:

Ingredients:

For the Patty Melt:

1 lb ground beef (80/20 mix for juiciness)

1 small onion, sliced thin

4 slices of rye bread (or your preferred bread)

4 slices of Swiss cheese (or cheddar, if preferred)

2 tablespoons butter (for grilling the bread)

Salt and pepper to taste

For the Secret Sauce:

1/4 cup mayonnaise

1 tablespoon ketchup

1 tablespoon mustard (yellow or Dijon)

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1 teaspoon sweet relish (optional)

A pinch of garlic powder

A pinch of paprika

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Secret Sauce:

In a small bowl, mix together mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, sweet relish, garlic powder, and paprika.

Stir until well combined, then set aside in the fridge to chill.

2. Make the Patties:

Season the ground beef with salt and pepper.

Divide the beef into 2 or 3 portions, shaping them into thin patties slightly larger than the size of your bread (they’ll shrink while cooking).

Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until they’re fully cooked to your desired doneness.

Set the patties aside and cover to keep warm.

3. Caramelize the Onions:

In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add a little butter.

Add the sliced onions and cook slowly, stirring occasionally, until they turn golden brown and caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.

Set aside.

4. Assemble the Patty Melt:

Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.

Place one slice of cheese on the unbuttered side of two slices of bread.

Add the cooked patty on top of the cheese, followed by some caramelized onions.

Top with another slice of cheese and then the second slice of bread, buttered side facing out.

5. Grill the Patty Melt:

In a clean skillet or on a griddle, cook each sandwich over medium heat until the bread is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted (about 2-3 minutes per side).

6. Serve:

Serve hot with a drizzle of the secret sauce or use the sauce as a dip for each bite.
