Apple Fritter Bread
Ingredients
For the Bread:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1/2 cup milk
2 large eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups peeled and diced apples (about 2 medium apples)
For the Cinnamon Sugar Topping:
1/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
For the Glaze (optional):
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.
3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the melted butter, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
4. Combine Mixtures: Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Gently fold in the diced apples.
5. Prepare Cinnamon Sugar: In a small bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon for the topping.
6. Layer in the Pan: Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle half of the cinnamon sugar mixture over it. Add the remaining batter on top and sprinkle with the remaining cinnamon sugar.
7. Bake: Bake for 50-60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. If the top browns too quickly, cover it with aluminum foil.
8. Cool: Allow the bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely.
9. Glaze (optional): Whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract. Drizzle over the cooled bread.
