Bangers and Mash

**Ingredients:**

# For the Sausages and Gravy:
– 4-6 pork sausages (you can use any type you prefer)
– 2 tablespoons of olive oil or butter
– 1 large onion, thinly sliced
– 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
– 1 cup of beef or chicken broth
– 1 teaspoon of Worcestershire sauce
– Salt and pepper to taste
– Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)

#### For the Mashed Potatoes:
– 4 large potatoes, peeled and cubed
– 4 tablespoons of butter
– 1/2 cup of milk or cream
– Salt and pepper to taste

### **Instructions:**

#### 1. **Cook the Sausages:**
– Heat the olive oil or butter in a pan over medium heat.
– Add the sausages and cook them until they are browned on all sides and cooked through, about 15-20 minutes. Remove the sausages from the pan and set them aside.

#### 2. **Make the Gravy:**
– In the same pan, add the sliced onions and cook them until they are soft and golden brown, about 10 minutes.
– Sprinkle the flour over the onions and stir well, cooking for another 2 minutes.
– Slowly pour in the broth while stirring constantly to avoid lumps.
– Add the Worcestershire sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
– Simmer the gravy for about 5-10 minutes, until it thickens. Add the sausages back to the pan to heat through.

#### 3. **Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:**
– While the sausages are cooking, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
– Add the cubed potatoes and cook until tender, about 15-20 minutes.
– Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot.
– Add butter, milk or cream, and mash until smooth. Season with salt and pepper.

#### 4. **Assemble the Dish:**
– Place a generous serving of mashed potatoes on a plate.
– Top with the sausages and spoon over the onion gravy.
– Garnish with chopped parsley or chives.
