Hamburger

Ingredients:

1 ½ pounds lean ground beef

Salt and pepper to taste

3 tsp olive oil

1 cup chopped green pepper

1 cup chopped onion

4 pita breads or flatbreads

Tzatziki sauce (store-bought or homemade)

Optional toppings: diced tomatoes, lettuce, feta cheese, olives

Instructions:

1. Cook the Vegetables:

In a large skillet, heat 2 tsp of olive oil over medium heat.

Add the chopped green peppers and onions. Sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from skillet and set aside.

2. Prepare the Beef:

In the same skillet, add the remaining 1 tsp of olive oil and increase the heat to medium-high.

Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes.

3. Combine Ingredients:

Once the beef is cooked, add the sautéed peppers and onions back into the skillet. Mix well to combine.

4. Warm the Pita:

In a separate pan, lightly toast the pita breads until warm and pliable.

5. Assemble the Gyros:

Place a generous amount of the beef mixture onto each pita. Top with tzatziki sauce and any additional toppings you desire.

6. Serve:

Fold the pitas and serve immediately.
