Best steak
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef (you can also use ground pork)
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1/4 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup milk
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
1/4 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
Cooking oil for frying
Gravy (optional, for serving)
Instructions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, milk, egg, salt, pepper, and optional garlic/onion powder. Mix everything together until well combined.
Divide the mixture into portions and shape them into oval or round patties, similar to the shape of steak.
Heat some cooking oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
Once the oil is hot, carefully add the patties to the pan. Cook them for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are browned and cooked through. The internal temperature of the patties should reach 160°F (71°C).
If you want to make gravy, remove the patties from the pan and set them aside. In the same pan, add a little more oil and 2 tablespoons of flour. Cook the flour for a minute or two, stirring constantly. Gradually add 1 to 1.5 cups of beef or chicken broth while continuing to stir. Bring the mixture to a simmer until it thickens into a gravy.
Serve the Poor Man’s Steak patties with or without gravy, alongside mashed potatoes, vegetables, or your preferred sides
